Unit 6 Holidays
Teaching contents: Part A of Book 6A
Teaching procedures:
Step one: 1.Free talk.
        T: Good morning/ afternoon.
        S: Good morning/ afternoon.
        T: What day is it today?
        S: It’s …
        T: What day was it yesterday?
        S: It was …
        T: What date is it today?
        S: It’s …
        T: What date was it yesterday?
        S: It was …
        T: Today is the …th of December. Which holiday is coming soon?
        S: It’s Christmas.
        T: What holiday comes after Christmas?
        S: New Year.
        T: Good! Today let’s talk about holidays.
        (揭题:Unit 6 Holidays.)
      2. Revision.
   (1)Show them a lot of pictures, and ask them “What holiday is it?”.
   (2)Divide the holidays: Chinese holidays; Foreign holidays; International holidays.
   (3)Match and say .
Step Two: Presentation.
1. T: There are so many holidays. Can you tell me “What’s your favourite holiday?”
  (By this way to learn the new word “favourite”.)
   S: My favourite holiday is …
2. T: My favourite holiday is Spring Festival. Do you know why?
   S: You can eat a lot of delicious food.
   S: You can get money.
   T: Yes. But I can visit relatives too.
  (learn the new word “relatives”.)
3. T: Today you did a good job. Now, Mr Green and his students are talking about the holidays too. Let’s listen “ What do people usually do at/ on …”.
  (Listen and tick.)
        New Year’s Day        Sping Festival         Halloween        Mid-Autumn Festival
Dress up in costumes                               
Eat delicious food                               
Eat moon cakes                               
Go to parties                               
Go to parks                               
Have a big lunch                               
Play with lantern                               
Visit relatives                                
Watch the moon                               
(1)Ask them to fill in the blanks.
(2)Lead them to say them out with the complete sentences.
(3)Listen to the text again, and lead them answer the questions.
(4)Open the book, and read it together.
Step Three: Consolidation.
1. Play a game: Try to be a reporter.
(1)Ask them to interview their classmates or teachers. Use the new drills: What’s your favourite holiday?
         When is it?
         What do you usually do at/ on …
         Did you … last …?
(2) Give a reporter:
   Hello! His/ Her favourite holiday is ______. It’s in _______. People usually ______.  He/She _______ last _______. Thank you for your listening.
2. Give them a sentence:
  May you come into a good fortune. (恭喜发财)
Step Four: Summarize the whole lesson.
         Homework:
                Tell your friends “What’s your favourite holiday”.
