　　A famous writer was visiting Japan last year. He went to a school to talk to a large group of students. Most of them could not understand English , so he had to have an interpreter(口译员).

　　This is a street crossing. There are red and green lights at each corner. Drivers must watch the lights carefully.

　　When there is a green light, the cars may go on. When there is a red light, the cars must stop. They must wait until the red light change to green. Then they can go on. 　　Mrs Smith, the wife of a rich man, asked some of her friends to have lunch. She was trying a new way to cook fish and she was very pleased with herself when the fish was ready. The fish was very hot, so she put it near the open window to make it cool for a few minutes. Five minutes later, when she came back for it, she was surprised to find the neighbour's cat beside the fish. She was in time to stop the cat. They talked and laughed until 4 o'clock.
