Brainstorm the vocabulary that is used to describe people’s characteristics. Encourage students to explain each word to their classmates.

要尽量让学生多讲

作为我们英语教师必须清楚，英语教学是语言学习的过程。语言学习不是一个推理过程，学生需要的不是论据，不是通过认真记忆和认真思考就能正确运用英语语法和成语，就能与人用英文交流的。英语教师要帮助学生形成新的语言习惯，必须把课堂还给学生，不可以和学生“抢”时间。要让学生说。要让学生置身于英语的熏陶之中，让单词、语调、句型存留在他们的记忆中。学好外语的首要条件就是接触外语，使用外语。学外语就像学游泳一样，必须泡在水中，而不是沾沾水。老师要置身于水中，而且必须把学生拖下水，而且要尽量让学生多讲。

在我们的课堂上，当学生出错时，老师说得最多的就是：你没有动脑筋！你已经忘得一干二净！我给你们上课时你心不在焉！实际上我们没有意识到：学生没有学会，是由于教师只是滔滔不绝地讲述了一通，而没有教会的缘故。我们教的目的是使学生会表达会交流，因此简单的批评可以休矣，尽量让学生多讲吧。
