Before class

1. Review the verbs in simple past tense in Unit1-4.

2. Show the students the teaching contents this lesson.

Step1 Warming up and lead-in

T: Boys and girls, I am your new English teacher today. I know you like games. Let’s play a game called “…but now…” OK?

I’ll go first. In the past, women ate much rice, but now they eat a little rice. Now it’s your turn….

Step2 Exercise 1

1.     Review story time

Present some pictures about Jim’s family and go on playing the game.

2.     Finish Exercise1

T: There are more changes in Jim’s family. What about Tim and Helen? What else could they do? What else couldn’t they do? Turn to page44, let’s read and write.

3. Extension

We know much about Jim’s family. Do you know him? (present the swan) Yes, he is a beautiful swan. But in the past, it was an ugly duckling.

What happened to him, let’s watch and fill in blanks.
