8B  unit 1 Past and present  (period 1)教案
Contents:Comic strips and Welcome to the unit
Aims: 1 To introduce the present perfect tense generally.
       2 To introduce the different forms of transport at different times in Beijing.
Important points: Aim 1 and 2
Difficult point: Understanding aim 1
Teaching procedures:

Step 1: Free talk
   1)Check out the prepared work.
   一.根据句意及首字母提示完成单词
   1. There is no time at p________.
   2. There are a lot of light r_______in Hong Kong.
   3. He often goes to work by u__________.
   4. I was very h_________,so I have eaten your food.
   5. Great c________ have taken place in our city.
   6. This summer holiday, he went to Beijing by t________.

2) T:In the past, Hobo and Eddie were good friends. But now something happens between them. Do you want to know what’s wrong with them? Listen to the tape and try to answer my question.

Step 2: Presentation (present perfect tense)
1. T:Now, read the dialogue, and find out the answers to the following questions.
  1) Where was Hobo’s food an hour ago?
      2) What did Eddie do?      
  3) Why did he do that thing?                          
  4) What does Hobo think of Eddie?
  Work in pairs and drill the dialogue,then try to recite the dialogue.
2. T: Has Eddie changed? (Explaining the new tense : the present perfect tense)
    3. T:My favorite food is chocolate. Today I took a piece of chocolate here. Oh,where is my chocolate? It was in my pocket an hour ago.
  4. Teacher asks Ss: ---Have you seen my chocolate?  ---No, I haven’t.
  Ss guess                                    Teacher says
  Maybe you have put it in your bag.          ----No, I haven’t.
  Maybe you have put it in your office.         ----No, I haven’t.
  Maybe you have put it in your book.         ----Yes, I have.
    5. Ask the students to give some examples:
  Eg:  Have you cleaned the classroom? (clean-cleaned-cleaned)
     Have you ever seen the film? (see—saw—seen)
            I’ve (I have) already eaten it. (eat—ate—eaten)
            We have not done this work yet.(do—did—done)……   
  6. Do some exercises about different tenses and the comic strip.
用动词的适当形式填空。

Step 3: presentation (welcome to the unit)
   1. T:1)How do you usually go to school?
2)How does your father/mother go to work?
3) If you want to travel this holiday,  how do you want to go there?  Why?
   Review the five transports we have learned before: bus, taxi, plane, train,
underground。
2.T:Next, you will learn some information about the different forms of transport at different times in Hong Kong. Do you want to know them? Show the pictures of different transports. Discuss them with the Ss.        
    What’s the use of it?
         Where do you usually see it?
         Is it a special one? Why?
         Which transport do you like best?
3.T:They are all good transport. And they are important for us. Now, write the correct names under the pictures. Finish Part A( Transport at different times)and check the answers.

Step 4 Games
Ask the students to think about their favourite transports,then write them on the paper. Introduce your favourite transport to the class, then let the students guess what transport it is. Show them the paper, if his answer is right.
Eg: 1)My favourite transport is the fastest way of travelling to a place far away, but it will cost you a lot of money.(a plane)
   2) It is like a bus , but has two floors.( a double-decker)
3)Thousands of people go to work on it every day. It is fast and it is under the ground.( the underground)
4) It is a car with a driver, and you have to pay the driver to take you somewhere. ( a taxi)
5) It travels along a fixed route and has many stops to let people on and off. It can take you to many places but does not cost you much. ( a bus)
Step 5 Exercises
  1)Finish part B (Back to the past)      
  Complete the timeline and check the answers.
  2) Make a conversation like this.
  A: When did people begin to use trains?   
  B: People began to use them in 1909.
    Trains have been in use since 1909.
