Unit 7  Story time
Teaching Aims and Learning Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. get to know the meanings of “pig, cow, apple, pear” both in spoken and written forms, and pronounce them clearly;
2. get to know some nouns have an “s” at the end;
3. talk about things on a farm with the new drills: “ Welcome to… What are these / those? Are these / those…?”
The Focus of the lesson
1. Understanding the dialogue well.
2. Expressing themselves freely.
Predicted Area of Difficulty
1. Pronunciation, meaning and usage of some words, such as “these, those”.
2. Usage of the structures they have learnt in daily life.
Teaching Procedures
Step1 Pre-reading
1. Enjoy a song before class. 
《What animals do you see on the farm?》
T: First let’s enjoy a song.
2. Free talk
T: Hey, boys and girls. Let’s begin our class, OK? (OK) Class begins!
Ss: Stand up. 
T: Hello, boys and girls.
Ss: Hello, Miss Gu. (PPT呈现标题及老师信息)
T: Oh, How clever. My name is Gu Aifang, You can call me Miss Gu or Anna.
I’m your new English teacher today. Now can you introduce yourself to me?
T: Hi, I’m Anna. Nice to meet you.
S1: Hi, I’m …  Nice to meet you. (5-8组)
T:How are you?/How old are you?/Who is she?...(话轮询问)
T: I’m new here. Do you welcome me? (出示welcome 单词卡)
Ss: Yes.
T: Thank you. Welcome!(教学welcome,拍手读)
S2: Welcome!
T: In our classroom, there are many teachers, let’s clap hands and say “welcome” 
to them. OK?
Ss: Welcome!(转身说)
3. Play a game
T Well done. Now let’s play a game. It’s name is “Welcome!”. If you see the words or pictures, shout it out. If you see my photo , Clap your hands and say “Welcome!” OK? (最后一张放Mike照片)
T: Oh, it’s not me. Please don’t clap your hands. Who is he?
S1: He’s Mike.
T: And who is the boy?
S2: He’s Liu Tao.
T: Where are they? (PPT出示)
S3: They are… on the farm  (板书,揭示课题)
Step 2 While- reading
1. Learn the new drill: Welcome to my farm.
T: farm(car)——on the farm——Welcome to my farm.
  Whose farm is this? (Grandpa)
2. Learn the new words and drills.
1)pig(s), cow(s), What are these? What are those?
T: Look, on the farm, there are some animals and fruit. But what animals? What fruit? Let’s guess. (学生自由回答)
OK, let’s have a team work. This team, Animal Team, this team, fruit team. I’ll give stars for you when you do well. (出示两个小组的席卡,示范——表现好,在卡上给五角星。)  
T: Listen, what’s this? (pig) 
  Look, what are these? (cows)
  (学生在四线三格内板书,根据学生的回答贴图到黑板上)
Let’s chant.
These, these, what are these?
Oink, oink, they're pigs.
Those, those, what are those?
Moo, moo, they're cows.
      T: Are there any other animals?(还有其他动物吗?)
2)apple(s), pear(s) Are these…? Are those…?
T: Look, what are these? You can ask:Are these…?
S1: Are these apples?
T: Yes, they’re apples.
Let’s learn: an apple-apples Apples. Apples. Are these apples? Yes. Yes. They’re apples.
T: Now here is a riddle for you. Listen and guess. You can ask: Are those…?
Let’s learn: a pear-pears
T: Look, are those pears?
Ss: No, they’re apples.
      T: Are there any other fruit?(还有其他水果吗?)
3. Watch and circle.
T: You guessed very well. But what’s on Grandpa’s farm? Let’s watch the cartoon and circle.
4. Listen and underline.
T: Please open your books to P.44, let’s listen and try to find out the questions that Mike asked.
S1: What are these?  What are those? ( 贴板书)
T: Can you find the differences between these and those. You can discuss in groups.
( these 这些,指近处,those 那些,指远处)
T: What else does Mike ask?
(Are these apples?  Are those apples too?)( 贴板书)
5. Read and match.
T: How to answer these questions? Let’s read the passage and try to answer.
6.  Read and practice.
